That was an intense period.

A time of major battles, enormous stress and a deep sense of civic commitment toward Trapani Airport, a primary resource for the entire province.

An asset that allows an isolated area like Trapani to maintain mobility and economic viability.

Together with the activists of the #sevolovoto committee, we achieved a truly historic feat, overturning the narrative that seemed to condemn Trapani Airport to closure, and instead concluding our fight with a complete relaunch of the airfield.

During those months, we organized public demonstrations, purchased newspaper pages (risking lawsuits in the process), created video clips to explain our position, and held discussions – sometimes heated – with local and national politicians. We even had a public confrontation with the President of the Region, Nello Musumeci. We ended up on Channel 5 news, in the segment L’Indignato Speciale.
I personally co-authored an article with Francesco Mercadante on the Sole 24 Ore blog.

In the end, fortunately, a balance was found and everyone – citizens and politicians – began rowing in the same direction.

It was an extremely formative and intense experience in my life.

There would be so much more to write about it, but the full chronicle of those feverish days can be found online by
searching “Sevolovoto” on Google.
