Luca Sciacchitano - The Shadows of Nahr – Luca Sciacchitano’s First Book

With a touch of pride, I announce the release of my first book.

The Shadows of Nahr is a substantial volume that tackles the theme of war, relating it to Islamic terrorism.

A book that, between fiction and plot twists, does not shy away from launching sharp critiques at our society and its underlying hypocrisies.

The Shadows of Nahr is not self-published, nor did it receive any financial contribution of any kind from the author.

Watson Edizioni, a young publishing house in Rome, decided to invest in the novel and in its promotion after reading the manuscript.

After the first print run sold out, The Shadows of Nahr moved to PubMe, which republished it in two separate volumes.

THE PLOT

“Salvatore Pumo, known as Tore, is awakened in the middle of the night by a phone call. A woman informs him that his son, a volunteer in Afghanistan with an NGO, has been kidnapped by the most feared terrorist in circulation: El-Sayyid.

But one detail unsettles Tore even more: the woman, an official at the Ministry, is warning him unofficially, risking her job. Yet every regulation is cast aside, because her daughter has also been kidnapped.

And it is precisely within this unofficial atmosphere that the events unfold: in a land where there are no kings, only many princes – of war, of drugs, of weapons – Tore undertakes a mission to rescue his son and the other hostages, bypassing slumbering institutions and confronting the bloodthirsty terrorists of the Black Gold Country in person.

With an ominous countdown echoing in his ears, Tore blends into the desert heights in a labyrinth of long waits and frantic military actions, inching closer and closer to El-Sayyid and the hostages.

He will not be alone in this mission: helping him are old and new friends, and Laura, the mother of the other kidnapped girl. Obstacles, however, multiply at every turn, and it becomes increasingly difficult to tell friend from foe. Meanwhile, time is running out for the hostages.”
